Interaction Partners & schedulR Update: PwC on MiFID 2, new schedulR functions & strengthened team
Accepting free meetings from brokers is not MiFID2 compliant says PwC, but rules are not enforced yet: An increasing number of large investors like e.g. the USD 1tn Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund (see here) have made it clear that they will not pay brokers for Corporate Access any more. The most pressing question now seems to be if asset managers can accept ‘free meetings’ that are part of broker sponsored roadshows. We have looked into that together with PwC. In this joint publication (here) we conclude that ‘free meetings’ is not compliant with MiFID2. Things clearly started moving (see e.g. FT here, or here) but it will probably take some action by regulators (FCA, Bafin, etc.) and firms auditing the asset managers to accelerate the change.
schedulR - new functionalities: Workflow for meeting requests. Conferences now possible as well. We have added new functionalities to schedulR (our event workflow tool/ investor database / IR CRM) that we really like. It now includes a workflow to handle meeting requests from investors (collection, pre-screening, systematic processing, logging). The function adds most value if integrated in our IR CRM, but it also works on a stand-alone basis as well. Additionally, it is now possible to organize conferences via schedulR as well.
Thomas Baumann joins as Senior IR Advisor: We are very happy to announce that Thomas Baumann will strengthen our team and join as Senior Investor Relations Advisor. His long track record and experience as sell-side analyst focusing mainly on industrials (at Julius Baer, NZB Neuer Zurcher Bank, MainFirst and Mirabaud) does not only equip him with a sound understanding about what is important to investors; but also how it should be communicated. Welcome Thomas!
